What is this Serenity film that Jake won't shut up about?

Once upon a time there was a TV show called Firefly that ran for all of 11 episodes before it was cancelled. It aired at strange hours on odd nights and nobody watched it. And it was about cowboys in outer space; a hard sell.

Then they released it on DVD and it sold like mad, based on word-of-mouth. So well, in fact, they made a film, Serenity, which opens September 30th.

To kindle more of that word-of-mouth business that worked so well before, they've run special screenings once a month this summer. I was lucky enough to attend one, so here's your word-of-mouth:

Serenity is a blast. It's exciting, funny, and surprising.

Serenity takes place hundreds of years in the future. Humans have colonized other worlds. There aren't any funny-foreheaded-aliens, just people. Those on the outer planets live like American frontiersmen, with cattle and horses for food and transportation. (Though the western elements have been toned down from the TV show.)

Serenity is the name of a cargo ship run by Malcolm Reynolds and his crew, who take odd jobs on the edge of space, often breaking the law, but never veering to the bad side of right and wrong, at least in Mal's mind. It's almost like a show about Han Solo.

Serenity is a dark & edgy. The action is gritty and dangerous. The humor is dry and sarcastic. The characters and relationships are interesting and dynamic.

It's the best film I've seen this year. Enjoy!

"It’s almost like a show about Han Solo."

Isn't that what we all really to see anyway? I'll have to write my Episode 3 review soon, I know Geoff has plenty to say about that too.
