First Date!

Tonight we went out alone together for the first time since Sophie was born. The restaurant we chose was less than a mile away, and small enough that waiting was minimal, but we still chose to skip dessert to come home and see our little sweetheart!

Thanks Kelly for watching our little munchkin, it was hard to leave but easier with someone we know watching over her. Plus I guess Eula's around to make sure everything's in order too!

We also went on a hike today, at a park just outside of town. Eula went swimming in the pond to retrieve her tennis ball, and we got some sun and fresh air out of the deal. The Baby Bjorn continues to perform, quite a neat little gadget.

Mom and Sophie are enjoying getting out and about more often now. Sophie had her first visit to the YMCA daycare today while Mom got a much needed workout. All the caregivers in the daycare thought she was adorable and we agree!

"Where have all the pictures gone?" you might ask. "I was hoping to see more time-lapse photography of the baby, the dog and the cat." Rest assured, they're still around: just click on the Photo Gallery link on the bottom right-hand side of the page. Below it is a new feature intended to help you find the latest pics (thus the clever name). Many thanks to Steve Thoms for once again helping us navigate the hurdles of personal website management, and please let us know what you think of the new layout by posting a comment!

On to other news, Sophie is seven weeks old today. She's recently started smiling, at Dad and the bookshelf in her room. Mom is obviously (and justifiably) a little disappointed by that. But Sophie's 10lbs 6oz now, and a whole inch taller! Diaper changes are down to just a few a day, and lately she's been sleeping a record 6 hours straight at night.

Sophie's most recent visitors include Grandma Barb, Uncle Jesse and Great Aunt Kathie. Kelly is due this week, followed by Grandma and Grandpa Great the week after. Both Kelly and the Greats have offered to babysit while we go out for a bit, which we're happy to take them up on.

Thanks again to everyone for all the showers and gifts, and for all the support and friendship provided during the pregnancy: you all made it that much easier. Speaking of, congratulations to Susie & Mike, who recently announced they're working on developing another NSI baby! Also Reed & Livia just had Genevieve, Maarten & Diane are due in short order, and Matt & Ashleigh decided we were all having too much fun on our own and decided to get pregnant too. Congratulations everyone!
