Let's Do the Time Warp Again

Listening to the radio stations here for the first couple weeks threw me back into a happy nostalgia. "Wow! Billy Ocean. I remember listening to this when I was 6." Or remembering all my Jr. High dances when 'More Than Words' came on for the 20th time. But it has started dawning on me that there isn't anything being played that has been released in the last 5 years.

So the other day I am sitting in line at the Starbuck's drivethrough (it's one of the only things that keeps me sane) and was furiously pounding the station keys to find something that was produced after I was 12. Here's the sampling that was on the stations.

'Wind Beneath My Wings' by Better Midler
'Old Time Rock and Roll' by Bob Seger
'Little Miss Can't Be Wrong' by the Spin Doctors

Honestly the only thing that I have heard that is recent are Kelly Clarkson songs. And, I admit, that when smattered sparingly between some more modern, new songs, I would actually like Kelly Clarkson. However, I can't cling to her as the newest music around. It feels wrong. I guess I'll make some iTunes playlists and go through those in the car. Or maybe just wait until I am caffeinated before turning the radio on.

What Went Right

Thanks to advice from our lawyer, support from our realtor and the negotiating skills of the court-appointed mediator, we were able to recover half of what we paid the landlords for the house in Kingston. The settlement also releases us from any future claims regarding the rental, including any future rent they might have tried to charge.

Ironically, the terms of the settlement are exactly what our lawyer sent a letter requesting back in December. That letter (and our other attempts to contact them) went unanswered, so we finally took them to Small Claims court.

We're both elated to have the matter resolved, and feel like a huge weight has been lifted. Our next trip to Kingston will be to clear out the storage unit.
